Varadero - a week of rest and relaxation

It does not feel like Cuba at all here.  It is like we left the country and came to nowhere land.  If you just visit Varadero, you have not seen Cuba.  You must go out and drive to Havana or another city.

The resort is beautiful and very comfortable. The beach is one of the most stunning beach we have been too.  We walked for miles and quickly saw that this resort has the widest and most spectacular beach.

The resort shows its age a bit but you can see that they are renovating and caring for it.  The staff is friendly and attentive and the four restaurant waiter exceptionally well trained.  Better than Vancouver waiters!

We had two glorious sunny days on the beach, two days overcast but still "beachable" and 3 days of darker with intermittent rain.  A week was a bit long considering that it was so far from everything.  We still walked the road and the beach and enjoyed the bars, restaurant and lounged a lot.

One note has to be made about the drunken Russian.  I have never seen anything like this before.  10am and drinking whisky by the glass, one after the other, ending up being obnoxious and annoying to the band player and everyone around.

My face is healing after 3 days!
